JOB DESCRIPTION
Employment Worker

Days:                Monday to Friday

Hours:              35 hours per week. Core hours 9am – 4.30pm Evening work on occasion
                     
Start date:        By negotiation

Salary:             £25,521

Expenses:        If applicable and authorised in advance

Overall objective: to work with clients of Tower Hamlets mental health services providing advice and guidance in order to move them on to work.

  1. Managing a caseload potentially up to 30 participants with the aim of either:
  • Identifying those who are job ready (including from existing caseload) and providing support with job hunting,CV advice, assistance with job applications and job interview preparation.

  • Providing advice and guidance for clients who are not job ready in order to ensure that they obtain the
    right skills and experience for employment. This can consist of creating a pathway that includes
    volunteering, work experience, apprenticeships, training, and education as potential options.
  1. To work towards project targets and as set for each individual employment worker.
  1. Ability to carry out a skills analysis of participants abilities in relation to their needs.
  1. Identifying with participants level of support required through skills analysis, and ensuring each area
    is addressed in an agreed action plan, devised with participant and is to be reviewed on a regular basis.
  1. Where appropriate to source a suitable placement for a participant to include cold calling, health and safety, negotiations with employer, setting up of placement, monitoring, review and exit for participant.
  1. To sign post participants not suitable for the project or when appropriate.
  1. Develop strong relationships with participants’ key provider(s) that includes a regular ongoing dialogue about their progress and development.
  1. Maintaining a working presence within the Community Mental Health Team of up to two days per week.
  1. To maintain good relationships with all mental health services that REWORK currently works with.
  1. Accompanying participants to appointments connected with their progression to employment.
  1. To support participants during voluntary roles and work experience.
  1. To support participants once work is secured and for as long as is required.
  1. To advise participants on back to work benefits using existing Quick Benefits Calculator software.
  1. To assist participants with the use of Adult Directions, a career guidance tool.
  1. To promote REWORK service to existing mental health service providers and to raise awareness of
    employment opportunities.  The worker will be allocated a CMHT where they will be the lead contact for
    the project.

  2. General administration of project including both hard copy and electronic.
  1. Give presentations to outside organisations; attend weekly and monthly meetings, and seminars as and
    when required.
  1. Recognise the confidential and sensitive nature of the information gathered about each participant.
  1. To work with participants in a non-judgemental way.
  1. To attend regular committee meetings of Working Well Trust.
  1. Attending and contributing to regular team meetings and supervision.
  1. To liaise on a regular basis with participants support agencies including families where appropriate.
  1. To provide monthly reports (including statistics) to manager and within scheduled deadlines.
  1. Any other duties as and when required.
