MARY'S STORY

RE
WORK
took the time to listen and have helped me develop my confidence. My dream has always been to work in a beauty shop. With Workplace’s help I have managed to gain an NVQ in customer service while completing a placement at a beauty shop.

I have now given up my incapacity benefit and with the support of REWORK I have managed to make the transition from being unemployed for 14 years in to a part-time job at a beauty store. They have helped with benefits and applying for working tax credits. They have also been there for me in the difficult early weeks of my new job. My confidence has now improved and things are better. I would like to say a big thank you to Working Well.

REWORK supports residents of Tower Hamlets who have experienced mental health problems find employment, either paid or unpaid.

If you want to work, volunteer, get into education, or train in a particular skill, we will try and make that possible. If your overall aim is to get into work, we will prepare you by helping you get the skills you need, help you through the process of finding work, increase your confidence at interviews, and support you once you are in work.

RE
WORK
maintains four schemes within the project

Pre-employment training

This training course is designed to develop people’s understanding of the UK employment landscape. Covering the topics listed below this ten week course runs once a week for two hours and happens four times a year.

   Understanding the UK employment landscape.
   What can I do?
How do I return to work?
My benefits. What happens to them?
How do I job search and make sure the job is right for me?
   Writing a good CV.
   Putting together a job application.
Disclosure and the Disability Discrimination Act.
Interviews and how to do them well.
   Confidence and coping issues.

Vocational Rehabilitation Scheme

We can help you decide what job you want to do, and plan how it can be done. We will help find suitable training and work experience, working with you every step of the way, so that you increase your employment based skills.

Job Ready Scheme

This scheme is for those who have trained up and ready to move into employment as well as for those who come to the scheme ready to work. Advice is given on how to job search, how to write an effective job application, interview techniques, and how best to present to an employer.

Work Retention

Adjusting to a new job can be a difficult process. We will help you during this time and keep in touch once you have settled in. We are also available for people in work who may be experiencing mental health issues while in their job, with the aim of keeping them in work.

We ask that participants:

Are motivated to put the time in
   Have experienced mental health problems
   Resident in Tower Hamlets
Will attend REWORK on a regular basis
